“Elementary” doesn’t bother me. I was a fan of Sherlock Holmes before I saw BBC Sherlock
I’ve been a fan of Sherlock Holmes since I was seven years old. I love everything Sherlock Holmes. I’ve read all the stories and seen so many different versions of it anything from film, radio to fanfiction. BBC Sherlock was just another version (a stand out one for sure!). Contrary to what seems to be popular opinion, I can’t wait for Elementary because I can’t wait to see yet another version of my favorite fictional character. The way I see it, if you were a true fan of Sherlock Holmes you would be happy that you’re going to get more Sherlock.
BBC Sherlock fans are outraged because “Elementary” has supposedly “stolen” the concept of Holmes in the 21st century from the BBC. The reality is its not a copyright breach as “Sherlock Holmes” came out of copyright a few years ago. The BBC can’t copyright their idea because they can’t copyright Sherlock.
Another thing I hear people say when they’re complaining about “Elementary” is that they have turned ”John Watson” into “Joan Watson” and that Elementary will focus too much on their realationship…..WHAT THE HELL? PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS GOING ON ABOUT GENDER EQUALITY AND YET WHEN ITS ATTEMPTING TO BE ACHIEVED PEOPLE ARE LIKE “GET LOST THAT’S A STUPID IDEA”. As to them focusing on Watson and Holmes relationship THAT’S ALL THE FANDOM DOES ANYWAY WITH JOHNLOCK!
